Nottingham marathon ends Health Week challenge for a good cause

More than 10,000 runners took to the streets of Nottingham on 25 September for the Ikano Bank Robin Hood Full, Half and Mini Marathons.

With around 300 of these being our co-workers with their friends and families, this was the 5th consecutive race with Ikano Bank as the headline sponsor.

“We are proud of our strong links within the city and community. ‘Community' is embedded in everything Ikano Bank does, which is why we support social initiatives where we can make a difference, like the Ikano Bank Robin Hood Marathon,” said Ikano Bank UK Country Manager Dan Joy.

The marathon marked the finishing line of our first ever Health Week challenge, where co-workers from across Ikano Group were encouraged to either walk, run or ride their bikes for a good cause. The distance covered by each participant was then converted into a donation to Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People in Loughborough, UK, our selected charity for the Health Week. In the end the turnout for the challenge was excellent; from Finland in the north to Singapore in the south, 738 Ikano co-workers managed to accumulate 10,219 kilometres, or 13.84 per person.

“I am absolutely blown away by the effort from everyone around Ikano for the Health Week. I personally really enjoyed running the Ikano Bank Robin Hood Half Marathon in Nottingham,” said Ikano Group CEO Lars Thorsén. “I have a good feeling that the amazing result this year can be even better in 2017!”
